Summer 2023 staff:
Cynthia Carrera, MS, CCC-SLP is a bilingual speech-language pathologist who has provided high quality service to communities in So.Cal, Monterey County, Santa Barbera County, indigenous communities in AZ and CA, Maricopa County in AZ, and now Sonoma County in beautiful Northern CA.
Cynthia is the daughter of immigrant parents, with great love for community and communication; after all, it is hard to delight in one without the other.
Cynthia has primarily served students through the spectrum of educational placement, from country programs to gifted programs. She enjoys collaboration with other professionals and learning to be a better clinician as the profession evolves.
Cynthia is a member of ASHA, and trained in such programs as PECS, PROMPT, Gestault theory, Handwriting Without Tears, Apraxia, AAC, and others.
Mrs. Mariko Wesley-Fagundes has been teaching students of varied and diverse abilities with communication needs for over 25 years in Sonoma County. She specializes in the Special Day Class setting. Mariko's passion for teacher, speech-language development, pragmatic skills development, literacy, and independence skills building has been highlighted through the students' lives she has impacted and also by the peers who sing her praises.
Mariko was interviewed by Collaborative Classroom for their blog, which is no surprise. Mariko is driven to create a curriculum specifically for children who struggle to learn to read via the traditional methodology of instruction in public education.
Mariko is an incredible artist, with Master's in Fine Art, amongst her many other degrees.
Ms. Mallory Nelson, BS
Mallory is currently a graduate student of Emerson University, Boston, through an innovative and rich clinical program designed for students studying clinical speech pathology across the nation. Mallory has worked in special education in Petaluma for many years and is a native this incredible county. Mallory will be an integral part of our summer team! She is excited to apply her knowledge and to support the summer program.
